Quotes from Daddy's Girl

Zoe: "Mommy, why are you mad?"
Lily: "I'm not mad."
Zoe: "You look mad."
Lily: "Angry. Angry is the word. Mad means insane."

Grace: "I liked what you wrote."
Jared: "How'd you know?"
Grace: "I just... knew. I don't know, I, uh..."
Jared: "I'm Jared."
Grace: "Grace."
Jared: "Amazing Grace. I'm sorry, you probably get that all the time."
Grace: "No, not really."

Toby: "In most divorces, men get angry and women get poor."

Phil: "They grow up so fast, y'know. I just love her so much."
Rick: "Well, you're not alone in that."

Zoe: "What's wrong?"
Grace: "Nothing."
Zoe: "Nothing always means something."

Grace: "Why is it so hard to figure out what guys are thinking? I guess they don't really want you to know. Like it would take away their power, or something. It usually looks like they're not thinking anything at all. That can't be right."

Lily: "I don't who I am anymore. All this seems to be happening to someone I didn't sign up to be."

Lily: "Oh, God!"
Rick: "Careful, careful."
Lily: "Is it alive?"
Rick: "Of course it's alive. I wouldn't give you a dead cricket."
Lily: "What is it for? What do I do with it?"
Rick: "It's an ancient Chinese custom. You let it live with you, in your house. It'll bring you, uh..."
Lily: "What?"
Rick: "Luck. Because, Lil, there are places that you'll be going that I can't go with you. And they'll be difficult places."

Grace: "Look, I'm not together, in any way at all. I just think you should know that about me."
Jared: "I disagree."
Grace: "No, I'm not. And I'm not like other girls either, so... not that I even want to be, so don't..."
Jare: "Well, I hope you're not. Look, do I get to have an opinion here? Because I think you are amazing, truly. Like the way a lake is amazing, or snow. What I mean is, you don't have to do anything."
Grace: "Well, that's good. That's good... um... because I never know what it is I'm supposed to do."

Grace: "I think they should invent a new word. A word that describes the moment before you kiss someone. I think it's like when a bird decides that it can fly."

Lily: "I got it! I've heard it enough times. I get it, I get it, I'm a weak, dependent, spoiled little girl."
Phil: "Well, I didn't say that."
Lily: "You are saying that... you and Jake and Judy and whoever else wants to chime in. I get it. I'm sick of talking about it. It's embarassing. But I AM changing, dad. And you know what? It's hard enough, after all these years, for me to stand on my own two feet. And I'm only asking you for one thing, okay. I'm asking you to try to respect me. Let me earn your respect. Respect what I have to do. I need to protect myself and my children."
